Stephen Sorensen Park
This unique park was truly an example of “by and of the people.” The Lake Los Angeles Park Association was formed by the homeowners in 1987. In order to fulfill their desire for a community park in this very rural area, homeowners came together to help accumulate funds to build the park. A new 14,000 square foot gymnasium was dedicated on July 3, 2013 by Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.
Volunteer With Us!
The Department of Parks and Recreation has many different volunteer programs and opportunities for your participation.
Many of our community parks have volunteer opportunities in areas such as athletic programs, after school programs, tiny tot programs and general park operations.
Our Regional Park Facilities have more specialized volunteer programs that range from docents at our nature centers and botanic gardens, mounted assistance units for our equestrian trails, and guides for our many school tours.
To find out more information about volunteer opportunities, it is important that you contact the facility of your choice directly. They will be able to provide you with information, answering questions you may have and discuss the application process for becoming a volunteer.
You don’t need any special leadership training to get involved—just a passion for helping others. Get started with our council now!
