San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy
We are dedicated to sustainable management of the natural resources of the San Dieguito Watershed, with priority given to the protection of the San Dieguito River corridor.
The Conservancy is led by a volunteer Board of Directors and is supported by hundreds of enthusiastic Conservancy members with initiatives for the conversation of River Valley. It partners with the San Dieguito River Park Joint Powers Authority, other non-profit organizations, citizens, landowners, governments, and other stakeholders conserve our natural resources, educate our community, and provide recreational opportunities throughout the San Dieguito River watershed.
Volunteer
The Conservancy is recruiting volunteers to help implement the San Dieguito Citizen Science Monitoring Program. Our citizen scientists collect valuable plant and animal data in the River Park – and you can too! Whether you are available one-time only or would like to make a longer-term commitment, there’s lots of ways to get involved. Join us on expert-led surveys, review wildlife camera photos in your home, add your personal observations to our iNaturalist project, or assist with educational events.
We’re always on the look out for Hike Leaders and Assistants to help with our public hikes in the San Dieguito River Park. Volunteers must be able to hike trails rated easy to strenuous, and be knowledgeable or willing to learn about our local environment, plants and animals. We ask that volunteers commit to helping with at least 2-4 hikes per year.
Join us as we spread our enthusiasm and knowledge to the next generation of stewards of the outdoors! The Watershed Explorers Program is seeking volunteer Watershed Educators interested in the distinctive nature, history, and culture of the San Dieguito River Watershed stretching 55 miles from Volcan Mountain west to Del Mar. Watershed Educators inspire youth in grades 3 to 5 to value and protect our natural and cultural resources through educational activities and hikes on five different field trips in the San Dieguito Watershed. As a Watershed Educator, you’ll receive training and access to exclusive events.
