Formerly Homeless & Struggling
*Please no judgement or negativity, I've suffered plenty of that by members of our community while I was homeless! I worked while homeless to so I can become housed. I'm not an addict or alcoholic or asking for money*
Formerly homeless, been housed since March 2024 and have been struggling financially, especially after rent is paid, we've barely enough for SMUD, cell phone and other bills or healthy groceries that doesn't come from a can or box.
I lost my job in the beginning of December and it's been a struggle just to get an interview!
I am absolutely terrified of ending up on the streets again. If that happens, it'll be even more difficult to obtain and secure housing again, especially one that allows dogs without breed or weight restrictions. Plus my husband has health issues (seizures and advanced heart failure).
Being unhoused was a traumatic, stressful, frustrating, depressing, overwhelming and terrifying experience. I, as well as my husband, haven't healed from that experience.
I am aware of many resources, but many are under funded or out of funds/resources themselves and aren't able to help
Any help, advice, suggestions, assistance/resources/programs, even kind words of encouragement will be appreciated! Thank you!
Edit - I am aware of Sacramento Food Banks and have utilized this resource, and do so almost on a weekly basis.
