notIndicated
Due Date: 2025-12-04T21:00:00.000Z
To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. The Boys & Girls Club of Whittier provides after-school and summer programs for youth ages 6 to 18 years old that emphasize Academic Success; the development of good Character & Citizenship; and the formation of Healthy Lifestyles. Our organization is a place that any child can find safety, encouragement, and the strength to grow and become a contributing member of our community. VOLUNTEERING & ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES Mentoring Program Elementary age members who are at-risk for falling behind in school are selected to be paired with a mentor as part of our Be Great: Graduate program, in which their ABC’s (Attendance, Behavior, and Class performance) are tracked. Adult mentors commit to meeting with their mentee for one hour each week to spend some time working on homework, then having fun around the Club- playing games, shooting hoops, or even baking cookies in the kitchen! Mentors act as a caring adult and role model in a child’s life. As one of our most valuable programs, we always need volunteers, especially minority males. Club Programming Do you enjoy or have a special talent in a specific area… maybe sports, science, tutoring, or music? Our program staff members can always use an extra pair of hands – whether one time or on a regular basis – to help out as we offer enriching and engaging activities to our members. Special Events We hold several fundraising and special events throughout the year to support the Club: a Gala Auction, an elegant Wine Dinner, a Golf Tournament, and a Youth of the Year awards event. Volunteers are always needed to help set up in advance and with various tasks during the event itself. If you want to apply as a volunteer, please, go to page https://www.bgcw.org/volunteer-opportunities/ Our website is https://www.bgcw.org/, contact email is oscar@bgcw.org, contact phone is (562) 692-0615
