Poway Library Branch Volunteer

Shelving volunteers assist library by getting books on the shelves in a timely manner and in good order, making it easier for staff and library users to find and use materials. They are responsible to keep shelving, books and library furnishings clean, neat and tidy, and perform duties assigned in the various zones in the branch. Qualifications: Ability to arrange items in numerical and alphabetical order Physical ability to push, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, and reach, move carts weighing up to 200 pounds; lifting boxes of books weighing approximately 10 - 50 pounds. An interview, shelving test, background check, and medical exam are required to volunteer and this process can take 4-6 weeks.
