Director of Ohlone Humane Society Wildlife Rehab Center
The Ohlone Humane Society Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, part of our nonprofit organization, is currently looking for a volunteer center director to join our board. We take in injured and orphaned wildlife, rehabilitate them back to health, and release them to the wild. We have been helping wildlife for 27 years with mostly volunteers caring for the animals. Applicants should have some experience either volunteering or working in the field of wildlife rehabilitation. Responsibilities Learn the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs as well as understand its collective purpose. Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in monthly board meetings by faithfully reading and understanding the organization’s financial statements and board materials. Serve as an active advocate and ambassador for the organization and wildlife. Fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission to rehabilitate wildlife. Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to support and achieve the organization’s mission as a local resource for animal welfare. Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and value in the community. Conduct annual performance reviews of two paid staff members. Respect the experiences of all who bring their voices and experiences into the boardroom and the organization Skills/Competencies: Basic understanding of Google Workspace, MS Excel and PowerPoint Correspondence writing skills Monitor OHSWRC budget spending and assist the center manager and center volunteer coordinator. Note: this is a non-paid position and is a two year term.
