With over 400 facilities in San Mateo County, we rely on a team of volunteers to visit the facilities regularly to observe the environment and advocate for residents when there is an issue. The role of an Ombudsman Representative is to mediate, negotiate, and make sure the situation is resolved so that the elder is safe and well cared-for. If you have these qualities, we’d love to talk to you. The program does have the following requirements: Age 18+ with a car, driver's license, and insurance. Must not have worked in a long-term care facility in the past 12 months Pass a criminal background check Training (education and shadowing) Comfort with technology to enter visits and case information. We would love to add some bilingual individuals to our team as well to better serve our community.
