Solana Center Climate Solutions Hub Volunteer
Help Solana Center run their store and deliver their great programs to the public! The Solana Center Climate Solutions Hub is a chance for volunteers to get involved with their programs from their home base. Although responsibilities may change with any needs that may arise, in this role volunteers will assist Solana Center staff during our public hours, when community members are able to purchase supplies for composting and water conservation, utilize our tool lending library and Green Convene dishware rental program, and take a self-guided tour of our site. Volunteer tasks may include: Greeting visitors to our Climate Solutions Hub Lending a hand as needed to help with our Store, Tool Lending Library, and Green Convene serviceware lending programs Assisting with garden maintenance (weeding, watering) and general site cleanup Sharing resource information about options for proper recycling and disposal of other types of unwanted item Helping to keep our storage sheds organized, and our signage up to date Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes Time Commitment: Shifts take place on Thursdays and Saturdays. Shift times on both days are 11:45 am - 2:00 pm and 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Attire: Wear clothes that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes. Please dress appropriate to the weather as many tasks take place outside. Bring: Reusable water bottle, work gloves if you prefer to use your own. Physical Requirements: Must be comfortable talking with the public with a customer service approach, and preferably have some familiarity with Solana Center. If you are new to Solana Center, please let their staff know when you arrive. The ability to lift up to 20 pounds is preferred, but not required. Note: All volunteers under the age of 18 must have their parent/legal guardian fill out the registration form on their behalf. About the Solana Center for Environmental Innovation Solana Center for Environmental Innovation is a San Diego-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that focuses on Zero Waste, composting, and water conservation.
