Volunteers needed to visit and advocate for nursing home residents!
Looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Consider becoming a volunteer for the SF Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. We are looking for compassionate and dedicated volunteers LIKE YOU to advocate for the well-being of older adults living in long-term care facilities. WHAT IS A VOLUNTEER OMBUDSMAN? Ombudsmen are advocates who visit residents living in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living and board and care homes. Ombudsmen visit facilities regularly and are trained to identify and address concerns and complaints raised by residents or their families and work with facility staff and administrators to find solutions. Volunteers complete a free comprehensive training program, which includes topics such as resident rights, elder abuse prevention, communication skills, and advocacy strategies. Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of five hours per week for at least one year and are assigned to a specific facility or group of facilities. INTERESTED?
