Mentor with SF Achievers; Be the Change!
Here at San Francisco Achievers, we are committed to bridging the Achievement Gap and the Equity Gap, which exists for young, African-American males in the San Francisco Unified School District. All of our young Achievers have overcome and persevered through seemingly insurmountable challenges, all of which contribute to a lack of understanding, empathy and compassion surrounding the concept of "being black" in America. Since the My Brother's Keeper Initiative, our organization has grown exponentially, allowing us to provide annual scholarships, support, and mentoring for more young scholars as they pursue their dreams and navigate through high school and into colleges across the U.S. As a mentor, you will have the opportunity to get to know our incredible young men, contribute to their successes, and participate in our voluntary (but incredibly fun) events. Some of these events include, but are not limited to, mentor mixers, trips to museums and plays, outdoor activities (e.g. hiking, camping, river rafting), sporting events, and our annual Awards Ceremony and Summer Picnic. We are looking for enthusiastic, compassionate, and resourceful individuals who are excited to bring their knowledge, energy, and life experience to the table. If that sounds like you, jump in! We are always looking to expand our SFA family!
