Save our Shores

From policy change to educational programs, we’re ensuring ocean conservation throughout the community. Our programs and projects are designed to support the foundations of a thriving Monterey Bay: clean shores, healthy habitats, and living waters. Annually, Save Our Shores holds more than 200 cleanups and recruits around 10,000 dedicated citizens to volunteer, and together we keep over 15 tons of trash out of the Monterey Bay! Our beach cleanups are a great way to get involved in the preservation of our Sanctuary. By removing trash and debris from our beaches, we’re helping foster a healthy and thriving Monterey Bay. We record data on the types and amount of debris collected. Then we use this information to help influence policy and increase awareness of how humans impact our environment.
